The rules we hold ourselves to
- We only link a tool we use ourselves, or would recommend to someone who asked us directly. If we would not send a friend there, it does not get a link.
- We are never paid to include a tool, and no company has any say over what we write. A commission does not change our recommendation, our ranking, or our criticism.
- A link only goes in a paragraph where that tool is already the honest answer. We do not insert products into articles to create places to put links.
- Every article carrying an affiliate link says so at the top, before the first link — and each link is labelled again at the point of the click.
- You never pay more for using our link. Where a partner offers readers a better starting deal than the public one, we say so.
- If we stop being comfortable recommending something, the link comes out — regardless of what it earns.
